It is above the waistline in most headshot photography. Portrait photography is quite different from this genre.

Headshot is quite an interesting photography genre through their uncommon genres & beginner photographer hardly pick this headshot task. But shooting headshots/portraits can generate side income along with your mainstream photography. The advantage of headshot photography. You can offer this service to the same clientele of interiors & exteriors, industrial, corporate, product etc. Nowadays all CEOs, MDs, and Owners post their headshot photographs on their website, Linked In, Twitter profiles etc. You can also take this headshot photography on priority.

The disadvantage of headshot photography is, All high-profile business personalities are very busy, and hardly have spare time per the shooting requirement. Once the shoot is done than a lot of disapproval/rejections. This is the toughest time to make these clients convinced. You must think before you jump in.

Let's discuss a few important points before you plan to shoot a headshot.

You must discuss the style guide means dresses, shoes, accessories, glasses etc

You must know in advance, what is the purpose of the shoot (storyline) and where to shoot like in the office, in the plain background, near the plant and machinery etc

Deadline of the delivery of the project otherwise you will be kept on waiting for his arrival in the office. This may delay your balance payment. Better watch it

Chose the comfortable outfit for your subject and that outfit which makes him/her more attractive.

Never make your client wait, settle all your lighting and posture before you give the final call to your client to shoot.
