Theory of the FOCUS

In the world of photography, focus plays a significant role in capturing images. Focus decide what is a story, though behind the photographs, introduced the photographer's style. Beginner photographers are always confused about using which focus mode has to be used to shoot.  Every camera manufacturer has given different theories for their DSLRs camera. Which confuse all beginner photographer. But camera manufacturers are right at their place because they have to introduce something new technology to capture customer attention. But still, the confusion exists here, which focus mode has to be used before we shoot. 

A small exercise we all must do, don't worry it's not about physical exercise. It is just to set your camera's setting before the shoot. You must know about the shoot in advance, what we are going to shoot like

  • Is it moving subject like an animal, bird, running bike etc 
  • It is a stationary subject like a product shoot, monument, building etc
  • Is it both Moving and non-moving 
  • Is it Group shoot

You have to think about your subject in advance and then set your focus mode. Nikon / Canon / Sony are carrying different names or denominations for the focus mode Nikon uses AF -S (For stationery subject), AF Servo - C ( for the continuous subject) - Auto Focus Servo - AF (For stationery and Countineaous, This option read subject automatically and decided itself choose focus mode) According to me Autofocus Serve is best to focus option because it can capture both stationery and running subject. 

There is some setting in the camera which focus on the face and eye. sometimes subject detection focus system is also available and helps to shoot a wedding, events, and other celebrations.  

In the early days of AF systems, there were one AFPoints at the centre of the image frame. Now cameras are available with 56 AF points and more than of them so that the entire photograph looks more sharpened. Also, allow you to capture groups with several focus points. These options increase the likelihood of the active area falling over the subject and it’s easier to keep one over the subject if it moves

Once again there are many AF options available in the cameras but depends upon your subject and which is your subject to shoot. 

Keep experimenting with all the AF options and compare the photographs and choose your AutoFOCUS option. It is like adding salt to your food and everybody has a different taste for salt.
