Photography can never be taught; it is a craft you’re born with

Image
Introduction Photography is not just about pressing a shutter button. It is not about owning expensive cameras, luxury lenses, high-end accessories, or attending advanced photography classes. These things can improve technical knowledge, but they cannot create a photographer. A real photographer is born with an inner creative vision — a natural feeling that pushes the mind to observe life differently. Photography is an emotional connection between the eyes, mind, heart, and imagination. It is a craft gifted naturally to some people. You can teach camera settings. You can teach lighting. You can teach editing software. But you cannot teach passion, observation, creativity, patience, or artistic vision. That comes from within. Expensive Equipment Cannot Create Passion Today many people believe that buying an expensive camera automatically makes them a professional photographer. But the truth is very different. A high-end camera cannot create creativity. Advanced workshops cannot fo...

A Real Commercial Photography Case Study

Commercial Photography Case Study – Episode 1  A Real Commercial Photography Case Study: Managing a Large Export House Shoot Under Tight Deadlines Sometime back, I got an opportunity to photograph a large export house manufacturing fashion accessories such as ladies’ bags, belts, and other products. While the final images looked smooth and professional, the actual shoot involved multiple operational and creative challenges behind the scenes. This is a real case study about how commercial photography is much more than simply capturing images. The business enquiry came on 25th January 2025. During the first discussion, the client informed me that they required the final edited photographs before 30th January because they had an important presentation scheduled in Italy on 2nd February 2025. The timeline was extremely tight. 26th January was a national holiday. 27th January was available for recce. 28th January was the only possible shoot day. 29th January was reserved for edit...

Choose Unphotogenic Subjects to Rock

Choose Unphotogenic Subjects to Test Your True Photography Skills Most beginner photographers start the same way. They pick up a camera and immediately begin searching for  beautiful  things—good-looking friends, attractive faces, stylish outfits, scenic mountains, colourful flowers, or aesthetic cafes. Hobby photographers often shoot themselves just to see how they look. Nature photographers wait for perfect light, perfect skies, and perfect landscapes. Even in weddings, many photographers rely heavily on already beautiful setups—decor, outfits, makeup, and lighting. The pattern is clear: If the subject is already beautiful, the photograph will look good. But here’s the uncomfortable truth— that’s not real photography. That’s dependency. The Real Job of a Photographer A photographer’s job is not just to capture beauty. It is to create beauty where it doesn’t exist. This is where most beginners struggle. I have met many photographers who are constantly hunting for: Beau...

Interesting Content is Everywhere! Photography

Interesting Content is Everywhere — You Just Need to See It One of the most common concerns I hear from my students and blog readers is this: “It’s very difficult to find interesting subjects to shoot.” Many believe that to create powerful images, they must travel to famous destinations—national parks, bird sanctuaries, or historical monuments. While these places are undoubtedly rich in visual opportunities, the reality is different. Travelling frequently to such locations is expensive, time-consuming, and not always practical. So does that mean great photography is limited to those who can afford it? Absolutely not. The Real Problem Isn’t Location — It’s Vision If you are struggling to find interesting content, the issue is not the lack of subjects. The issue is that your photography eye is not trained yet. A trained photographer doesn’t search for locations. They discover stories in ordinary places. Where Can You Find Interesting Content? Everywhere. Start observing yo...
