Focus on, What you can CONTROL

There are so many situations that make your photography mood out of control like these situations, technical-non technical issues, subject issue, weather problem, photography kit's problem, model's mood problem etc. Most of us has gone through these situations, some of them scrapped the shoot, some of them converted those situations into the successful shoot. It is up to you.

These situations made you a better, matured, experienced, brilliant photographer and take your photography career at a peak level. Majority of photographer believes that we are going to get all the thing in systematically way to shoot but this is a myth. I always follow one quote "Plan for a better situation and get ready for the worst situation"

Let's discuss a few important things to avoid an unexpected situation. When things are not in control then focus on that area that can help you to shoot better and avoid cancelling the shoot.

  • Focus on, what can be achieved. If you have brought the wrong lens (Zoom lens instead of wide-angle) then try to shoot vertically. Crop the outer area and create good vertical shots.
  • Focus on, When weather conditions are against of you then behave according to nature, try to shoot by hiding yourself in the safest place and shoot those subject which cannot be seen in the worst situation, believe me sometimes different weather condition helps you to shoot amazing shots and create the history.
  • Focus on, when your important lightman is absent on the shoot day, take help the flashguns and shoot. It is a good experience to shoot without your lightman.
  • Focus on, when your tripod legs create problems to stand then shoot hand-handled, see how you shoot sharpen, unshaken without a tripod.
  • Focus on, when your strobe light's plug broken because somebody stepped on it, cut the wire and rejoint with other strobe light's plug.
  • Focus when one strobe light's bulb fused and you have no reserve build, use the single light along with other natural light or another available light source.
There are so many other hidden things while you are shooting, you may find things are not as per your requirement. Here I advise never to focus on that area where you have no control. Never ever be disappointed with that situation. Always focus on that area where you have control and can shoot better and make the best use of that moment. That's call photography.

Being a professional photographer, I have always encountered the problem that appears without any information. The only thing is how you deal or look for reshoot option or cancel the shoot. We hardly get everything systematically before the shoot but we have to shoot systematically, efficiently and must shoot the better photographs in all the expected or unexpected situation because career matter a lot.

Once again, never focus on those which is not in your control but always focus on that area which is in your control. Keep swimming rather than dropping dead like that swimming duck image posted above on the top.

Keep experimenting, Have wonderful and happy photography life to you all.
