Shooting Butterfly is an ART

Finding a butterfly is a great object to shoot.  I tell you shooting a butterfly covers lots of other photography genres like Macro, Speedy subject, Nature, Species etc. This assignment grooms you as a better photographer. Now how can we shoot the butterfly beautifully? 

Let us discuss the few important tips to shoot the butterfly. 

Know the location- Find out the garden, national park, butterfly park etc where different types of butterfly can be seen or can be captured. This is your first job to do, now take the Google help to hunt. 

Lens type (macro VS zoom)- I do not advice to carry macro lens like 100mm, 85mm, 50mm etc. The reason is whenever you go close to the butterfly to shoot then the butterfly will definitely fly away, these butterflies are so scary from everything even they do not sit at the same place for so long, keep moving here and there, so this in this fastest situation macro lens fails to shoot. Here I suggest always carry a ZOOM lens like 70-200mm, 55-300mm, 150-600mm etc so that you can shoot butterfly from the distance without scaring them.

Carry flashgun- Most of the times, butterfly sit under the shadows, under the leaf, in the bunches of flower, on the flower but under the trees in this case carrying flashgun is a good option to shoot better and even you can shoot at low shutter speed. See the above-posted images, I used the flashgun to capture. 

Burst Mode (Continuous mode)- In every DSLRs there is the burst mode,  Burst mode allows you to shoot 3-5 times in single shutter press. It continuous capture of the speedy subject like a bird, butterfly, transport, etc. One of the best option in DSLRs. TRY It. 



Closed shots- Butterfly carries beautiful colours, texture, design etc so never ever capture the distant shoot where you have zoom the Image and then show to your viewers. NOPE. You have to capture the close shot so the entire butterfly comes up beautifully. That's your job. 

Rest you all aware of good composition, creatives aspects and photography kit and accessories. Now you need to find out the garden, butterfly park to shoot butterfly. But follow all the precautions to protect yourself because we all are suffering through the covod10, a pandemic.
