Frame per second, FPS?

What is the FPS? I am sure most of the photographer and videographer must have heard this word FPS. Well, FPS full foam is FRAME PER SECOND and its refer frame rate and it is used to measured how many frames are captured in one second. I am sure whenever you have bought your DSLRs and camera seller must have introduced the option/feature called FPS or frame per second. In still photography, it refers to how many images can be captured in a burst.

Let's discuss FPS's advantages (Photography and Videography) and how this feature can support for better and improvement in photography.

Advantages (Photography)- FPS feature supports you to capture 6-7 shots by the shutter button is depressed once. It means if your subject is speedy or fast-moving then these features allow you to shoot 6-7 photos of the subject in one single go. Mostly sports photographer use this feature and they buy only those cameras who can capture 7-8 shot or more in one single go. If you choose the small resolution file size like small RAW or JPEG then you can capture more frame per second like 8-9, It also depends upon your DSLRs limitation like how your camera allows you to capture more frames.  It is a wonderful feature also support you to capture fast-moving subject like flying birds, butterfly, Animal etc

The main drawback of this feature, It consumes battery so quick and fill memory card so fast, Please always carry an extra battery and memory card when you have a plan to burst mode or FPS feature

FPS for Videography- IN the videography, FPS start from 24, 30, 60 and sometimes 120 means the camera can record 24, 30 or 60 images in one single second. In which frames rate you have to record a video. For natural cinematic look, few videographers shoot at FPS 24, for more smoothness in the video they prefer to shoot at 60,120 FPS. Its all depend upon the shooting requirement like what you are planning to shoot, Is it marriages, interviews, pre-wedding, songs etc. Sometimes for slow-motion shots, they prefer to shoot at 120 FPS or more. More frames give you smoothness and slow motions shots, Less frame rate give you natural shot. Choose your frame rate wisely.

There are two formats in the camera to record a video, 1- NTSC (24, 30, and 60 FPS etc). 2- PAL (25, 50 etc). NTSC format required for the USA and other countries as per their requirements. PAL Format required in INDIA to record a video. You also must know on which platform (youtube, online platform, cinemas etc) you have to screen or play your videos so that accordingly you can record a video.

Keep experimenting and have a wonderful and happy photography life to you
