All the photographer uses two types of lights. 1. Natural Light, 2. Flashlight. Every photographer has a right to choose the light source to master in it. There are no advantages or disadvantages to both the lights. It purely depends upon the expertise of controlling lights in all the expected or unexpected light conditions. I have seen lots of incredible images, shot in the natural and flash lighting both.
When to use the flashlight and the natural light, both lights required a photographer's great skills and knowledge. How he can create better light to shoot incredible images and how he can capture the better images in any natural light condition.

I have mentioned this earlier also that never ever fear of flashlight, I have heard lots of unreasonable reasons for not using flashlight because this creates lots of confusion and difficult to handle. I do not accept these reasons at all.

Let's discuss the few important points on why to use a flashlight?

Flashlight replaces sunlight- When shooting in the sunlight (Harshlight). No option to replace the Sun. In this situation flashlight is the best tool to use to get the desired results. Try it and feel the difference. I have used the flashlight (when harsh light was there) shooting butterfly and I got the desired incredible result.

Amount of light- When natural light is not enough to get the better shot, believe me in this situation your camera's flash (pop-up flash) can give you a better shot. Flashlight gives you the power to control the amount of light, whenever you feel there is low light then your flashlight can save your shoot.

Light's Direction- When shooting in the natural light then you have to shoot as per the available direction of the light. You cannot change the direction of the natural light. But yes to a flashlight. Your flashlight can change the direction of the light. You decide the direction and your flashlight fires the light in the same direction as you required. The best reason to use a flashlight.

Controlling the light's colour- Like I already mentioned above you cannot control the natural light and you are bound to shoot in the available natural colour of the light. There is no option to change natural colour. But there are so many ways in the flashlight that can help you to change the light's colour and tone.

Quality of Light- Last but not least, When sunlight is harsh, there is fog, haze in the weather. then Flashlight is the only hope to make the light soft, directional, more light or ambient light. We have end numbers of the flashlight, studio lights accessories which help us to create quality light. Which has a strong power to convert harsh light into soft light, creative light, change in colour light etc

Conclusion - Flashlight knowledge or expertise makes the photographer more confident, more capable, more creative to shoot in any worst light condition. Where you have to wait for the soft, better and quality natural light condition to shoot, that's the big difference in between a flashlight and natural light.

I hope, this article is going to encourage you to use a flashlight for different light conditions and to shoot more creative images.

Keep experimenting and Have wonderful and happy photography to you all.
