Foggy & Mist Photography

Sometimes Bad weather makes better photographs. The speciality of bad weather, You do not have to wait for this weather. This can happen anywhere and without spacial prediction. One of the worst weather is FOG which exists in every winter season in every country. No more special plans to visit the foggy location at all.  Most of the photographer avoid shooting in Foggy weather because of its poor visibility, dewdrops also un-favour you to shoot. But better photographer always takes this challenge to shoot in any worst and the foggy weather condition.

Also, I would like to mention here that one must take all the precautionary steps to protect his photography kit because dewdrop can spoil your camera sensor if any drop enters into your camera and lens.

Let's discuss the few important safety steps to shoot better in foggy weather.

  • Be prepared along with safety feature like one must carry one torchlight, calculative equipment, one companion, the camera cover, hand-gloves etc
  • Choose the best one lens to carry, avoid changing lens because while changing the lens dewdrops can enter the camera sensor.
  • Never drive too far to shoot because driving may cause accidents when visibility is so poor. choose the closet location like parks, roads, building, vehicle etc.
  • Must share location with your family before moving out.
  • Avoid Hill area or forest because sometimes unexpected animal may appear which can be too risky for your life.

When shooting in the fog.
  • Be quick to shoot, sometimes subject disappears so fast
  • Do not hunt unnecessary to find an interesting subject. Because in the thick fog you hardly get better subject to shoot.
  • Shoot minimalist subject, even the subject is visible very less. Do not mind to shoot them.
  • Must shoot on the correct focal length, highly zoomed photograph may have too many grains.
  • If possible, please include the light source like street light, halogen lights etc sometimes these photographs are really great.
  • Shoot the vehicles, exteriors, nature or natural object, rising sun, traffic, people etc.
There are other hidden objects in the fog, your photography eye needs to explore them. I must write, even common object looks uncommon or creative in the foggy weather. Believe me.

Conclusion - being a photographer we must not wait for the perfect weather condition, sometimes poor weather condition may give you stunning, mind-blowing and great photographs. Do not wait for the perfect condition and get ready for the worst weather condition. At least give one try to shoot.

Keep experimenting, Have wonderful and Happy photography life to you all.
