Finding Location for a Portrait Shoot

Finding a location for your models, humans, people photography etc is quite a difficult job. earlier shooting portrait inside the studio, hotels, and other indoor property was quite OK. Now the time has changed and even your model looks for the stunning shot along with the perfect background or mind-blowing location which enhances the beauty of the photographs. Finding a perfect outdoor location is also an important part of the portrait, model, portfolio photography. Perfect location improves your portrait photography too.

Let's discuss, how to find locations for your portrait photography

Visit the famous location - Must google for all the famous location near your studio or home like a monument, parks, tourist places etc then plan a short trip to visit all the location and take a test shot of all the interesting location(mobile shot will work). Once you have all the test shots of all the interesting places in your data then accordingly you can plan a shoot along with your model's appearance. This will also help you to select the location according to the appearance/outlook of the models or which location is perfect for your models. This really works, the renowned photographer chooses the best location to shoot for there big clients and even charge for the location hunt.

Visit the abstract, haunted, weird location- Once all the famous location data has collected then try to hunt for the unexplored location nearest your places, unexplored places are like, not maintained location so far, broken & cracked location, the dark side of the jungle, old street, old huts, old train station, old bus stand  etc. Sometimes haunted, weird places creates charisma in the photographs.

Visit the old villages- Now villages are disappearing or converting into the smart cities. It's really good for them. But if you google for the villages nearest your places, maybe you found better and antique types villages, may found animals to shoot with your stud models. Think about this.

Once you are done with all mentioned above location then plan to travel more for the long-distance location if your model agrees to pay extra for the better location then this may help you to shoot better.

W A R N I N G - when shooting human on outdoor location like a monument, park, villages or private property etc. It requires legal permission from the authorities/ owners etc to shoot. Do not ever shoot without permission, this can spoil your shoot and authorities can forfeit your photography equipment too. You can afford to change the location but cannot afford the loss of the photography kit. Please follow the legal process always.

Avoid locations - Never ever shoot the location like an airport, govt official building, highways, private properties, unauthorised location etc. This location never permits photographers to shoot. Please avoid these types of locations. (wastage of time and energy)

Pricing or cost - When you are planning to shoot, then you must ask for the tentative cost of the location, which must be charged from the model or your clients. Must have transparencies with your client before shooting. Paying for the outdoor location will give peace of mind to shoot better. There are authorities who charge for photography and film making. Always go for the legal process that I can suggest you in the beginning. When you are visiting all the location then must make a list of charges of all the location so that accordingly you can charge from your clients in beginning.

Keep experimenting and have a wonderful and happy photography life to you all
