SHADOWS plays an equivalent role.

This time, I am not going to discuss finding the great light, morning light, golden hour light, harsh light, soft light and other important light for the photography. Today, I will discuss the shadows, how to use the shadows to capture a better image. Like a coin, It has TWO sides one is obverse and second is the reverse side, in a same way photography has two sides, one is light and another second is shadow and both compensate to create a better photograph. Also, I would like to mention that shadows play an equivalent role as same as light plays in photography.

One must remember that shadows itself shape the light and draw the attention to the light and mix with the light to create an iconic photograph and create lots of interesting opportunities for a photograph to capture the stunning shot.

Let's discuss the few important tips to use shadows and add to the photograph.

Focus - The shadows help the viewer to focus on the darker part of the image and draw the user's attention to drive like viewers forget to pay attention to the lighter part and enjoy the darkest part more and more. Believe me, Shadow drives the viewer's attention to the centre of the image or in between the centre of Image. See the below-posted image. Viewers try to find out something on the darker side.

Dramatic Images- Shadows creates a strong contrast to create magical images, one must have a habit of reading it, explore it or how to add shadow beautifully to the image that called creativity of drama.  This drama drives your viewer's attention to high tonal contrast. See the below-posted image. Shadow creating a good drama on the old-man portrait. One must notice the gap between the light and shadow that created a great photograph.

Reveal the information- Shadows always reveal the hidden texture, hidden information out of the light. Find the irregularities of the shadows out of the light and works great at the low key to create beautiful low contrast images. Sometimes, shadows become the only interesting part of the images. See the below-posted image. I hope must be noticing that shadows are also playing an equivalent role in this beautiful image. It is a golden hour image.

Conclusion - Never ever underestimate the power of the shadows, They both (shadows and lights) plays an equivalent role in the photography. If you looking for betterment in the photography then start using shadows in your photography and this will definitely improve the level of photography.

Keep experimenting and have a wonderful and happy photography life to you all.
