PRO Photography Kills Passion Sometime

Professional Photography kills your creativity and passion sometimes. I hope, this article may surprise you how come pro photography kills your creativity skills or ruin your passion.YUP this is true when you are established as a pro photographer then there are lots of unreasonable, irrelevant choices, decision, painful challenges etc hidden/happens in the entire photo shoot from beginning to the delivery of the photographs

Let's discuss the few things which I have experienced while shooting professionally.

False commitment- When you are shooting for real estate, interiors and exteriors, Industry, products etc Once the date is finalised to shoot and you have already discussed the shooting requirement like mentioned below
  • The site must be neat and clean to shoot
  • Staff and worker must have a proper uniform
  • Furniture should be polished well
  • Lighting must be working well
  • Shoot time is 6 am
  • No scratches on the product
But the client never works for this, When you are landed along with your team then realised that there is no prework done, all commitment fails. In this case, you have to shoot as per the current situation of the location. Sometimes I reached the location at 6.00am and I started the shoot at 9.00am after getting done all the required things systematically. All morning lights are gone away. In this case, you kills your creativity and do the shoot for the sake of money or as per the client requirement.
No Vision / Idea- Sometimes client is not ready to listen to your ideas and never care your vast photography experiences. Whatever he is having in his mind, he asks you to shoot in any case and you have no way or option out accept following his ideas because Client is always right. But in this case, you have to shoot only and relax to your creativity.

Stress & Pressure - Sometimes clients call you and ask you to shoot for the next day, paid the advance to you to start the project and want the final processed photographs after the next day of the shoot. Client pressurize you to shoot anyhow, the photographer has to maintain the business relationship and shoot under the pressure and where is no commitment of the creativity.
Model shoot - Sometimes you have to shoot immature male and female models, They wanted to look good in the photographs but never ever follow your instruction like mentioned below
  • You have to sleep well before the shoot day, to look fresher but the whole night they were chatting on whatsup.
  • Shampoo your hairs but never ever shampoo their hairs to look more beautiful.
  • Never bring ironed dresses, one of the pathetic situation where the photographer is waiting for the dresses to be ironed
  • Never arranged props to add on
  • Never come on the time.
In this situation, the Photographer shoots the model and forget creativity and finish the shoot quickly.

Marriages Shoot- In marriages one thing is good for a photographer, keep pressing the shutter button and choose the best one after the shoot. In Indian marriages, Nothing happens on time. The bride always takes too much time to make-up and all the photographer waits for her patiently and when she arrived then continuously shutter button starts to get one best shot. Sometimes there is no specific place to shoot the bride and groom better. No space for creativity in my humble opinion, because Bride hires her photographer and Groom hires his photographer separately and both the photographer has a different opinion to shoot and cannot shoot them at the same location because who will pay them twice for shooting them at the same location. In the rich marriages, the client hires 4-5 photographer to shoot from every single place and due to this reason, the number of images increased like 1000s of images has been shot and Client has to choose best photographs out of these photographs for the printing purpose (album, poster etc) and which take hell lot of time to finalize sometime they never finalize.

There are lots of pains that are hidden in the pro photography but I guess, Every professional service must be having hidden challenges or pain to do but everybody has to bear with it if the photographer has to grow more and more.

Conclusion- I will not mention that pro photographer does not get a chance to show their creativity or passion but he gets very few chances to show. But we are the part of the society and we have move accordingly.

Keep experimenting and have a wonderful and happy photography life to you all.
